Atalanta Prepare Legal Action Against Lookman

0

Serie A club Atalanta are preparing to take legal action against Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman after the Nigerian left Italy without permission and refused to attend training sessions in protest over the club’s rejection of Inter Milan’s transfer bid.

The 27-year-old winger has gone on an unauthorized vacation following Atalanta’s decision to turn down Inter’s latest offer, with the club’s hierarchy considering his behavior completely unacceptable.

According to Football Italia, the Percassi family have prepared legal action that could result in a costly fine for Lookman, who has also refused to communicate with the club since departing Italy.

“After missing a few training sessions with Atalanta, Lookman has decided to leave Italy and go on an extra summer vacation,” a report stated.

“The Percassi family have prepared legal action with a costly fine, as the striker’s attitude is considered completely unacceptable, regardless of the reasoning behind it.”

The situation has reached a complete impasse with both Atalanta and Inter Milan waiting for the other party to make the first move, creating a transfer stalemate just weeks before the new Serie A season begins.

Lookman’s protest stems from what he perceives as a breach of trust, having reportedly agreed on a verbal understanding with Atalanta that he could leave this summer if a suitable offer arrived.

Inter Milan have already agreed personal terms with the Nigeria international on a deal worth €4.5m net per season until 2030, but their latest bid of €42m guaranteed plus €3m in variables falls short of Atalanta’s €50m valuation.

The former Europa League winners are reluctant to sell their star player to a direct Serie A rival and are hoping other interested clubs might table improved offers.

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as potential competitors for Lookman’s signature, with the north London club identifying him as a viable alternative to Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as they seek to replace departing captain Son Heung-min.

However, Atalanta hold the upper hand in negotiations as Lookman still has two years remaining on his contract, meaning he would be obliged to return if no agreement is reached.

The Nigerian forward enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season, scoring 20 goals across all competitions. Lookman has already submitted a transfer request and unfollowed Atalanta on social media platforms, further indicating his determination to secure a move away from Bergamo this summer.

Peter Obi Advocates Five-Year Single Tenure For President

0

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, has advocated a five-year single term for the President in Nigeria.

Obi stated this in Bauchi on Friday when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

According to him, there shouldn’t be any second tenure for the president, adding that instead of the four-year tenure, it should be five years, as is practiced in South Korea.

“I’ve said it and I want to say it again in this Government House that if I have the opportunity, we should stop having a second tenure for president.

“It should be five years straight, so that people can come in knowingly they have a job to do.

“What people do now is to be president for one year and use the rest of the years thinking about their next tenure. We must stop it, let’s face the real job, do your own and go,” he suggested.

The 2027 presidential hopeful insisted that if elected as president in 2027, he would only serve for one term, promising that he wouldn’t spend a day longer than four years in office.

He added that if given the opportunity to serve Nigeria, he would ensure that every political party functions properly.

Obi said he would ensure that political parties are bigger than the elected officials.

“I want the party to be bigger than the president and the governors so that we can have orderliness,” he said.

Responding, the Bauchi state governor called on Obi to come back to the Peoples Democratic Party, saying that’s where he belongs.

“We want you to come back to the PDP. Please come back because that is where you belong.

“We want you to be in the PDP, there are plans, desires and strategies,” he said.

Mohammed further said that politics in Nigeria could not be done with ego, differences and personal interest, while calling on all oppositions to harmonise their interests in the interest of Nigerians.

I’ll Die On a Sunday After Service, Pastor Adeboye Predicts Own Death

0

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has restated his vision of how he believes he will pass away, peacefully, on a Sunday, after attending church service and eating his favourite meal, pounded yam.

Speaking on the fourth day of the church’s ongoing International Convention themed “The Overcomers”, Adeboye said death does not always come through prolonged illness and that his departure would be sudden and painless.

“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” he declared.

The cleric noted that he first shared this vision two years ago and was repeating it to reassure believers that death can be peaceful for those in Christ.

Delivering a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions”, Adeboye urged Christians to actively claim what is rightfully theirs in Christ, warning that spiritual blessings often have to be fought for.

Drawing from the biblical story of the Israelites taking the Promised Land, he said:

“In many cases, you may have to fight for things that are already yours.”

He listed healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and long life as areas where believers must resist spiritual opposition.

He listed healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and long life as areas where believers must resist spiritual opposition.

“Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy,” he said, citing John 10:10. “Long life is yours, but the devil wants to kill you with all he has. You must fight to live.”

On prosperity, Adeboye declared:

“The One who owns the earth and its fullness, and owns all the silver and gold, paid a terrible price so that you wouldn’t be poor. As long as you want to remain poor, you will remain poor.”

He criticized the double standard faced by successful Christians:

“If you make it as a Christian, they criticize you. If you die poor, they say, ‘Where’s your God?’”

Referencing biblical figures like Rachel and Hannah, who overcame barrenness through persistent prayer, he urged believers to reject all forms of spiritual oppression

Concluding his message, Adeboye used the story of Jacob wrestling with an angel as a call to spiritual perseverance:

“It is what we tolerate that disturbs us. Stop tolerating sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death. Fight to possess your possessions, it’s your spiritual duty, made possible by Christ’s sacrifice.”
