14-yr-old boy arrested for killing eight of his schoolmates and a security guard in Serbia
Police operatives in Serbia have arrested a 14-year-old boy who allegedly shot and killed eight of his schoolmates and a security guard.
It was gathered that the teenage suspect took his father’s g¥n before shooting his teacher and then fellow students and security guards at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in the capital Belgrade on Wednesday morning, May 3.
The children who died were seven girls and one boy — all aged between 11 and 14, Sky News reports.
Veselin Milic, head of Belgrade police, said the suspect had two guns and two petrol bombs and had pre-planned everything.
Speaking at a press conference, Milic said: “He even had names of children he wanted to kill and their classes.
A sketch the suspect drew before the attack looks a bit like something from a video game, or from a horror movie. It indicated that he planned in detail, to go room by room, class by class – how to enter each classroom, and how to kill each child and in what order.
A schoolgirl witness told Al Jazeera: “At first, I thought that someone was throwing firecrackers in the corridors and that it was nothing serious. But later I saw a member of security fall to the floor … I ran and I told the PE teachers about the shooting upstairs, then we all went to safety and we heard more shooting.”
Six children who were injured are also being treated with one of them, a girl, in a life-threatening condition.
